It comes with a very heavy heart that our CaNDak ride must be postponed to August of 2021. The committee has made every attempt possible to try and continue this ride amidst the current state of our nation with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we were not able to have the support of enough of our host communities in order to provide for a meaningful tour that our riders expect and simply deserve. There are many factors that come into play when planning a week-long event and though our committee was dedicated to doing anything possible to make this ride occur, there are just too many other variables that we do not have control over that did not work out in our favor, despite our tenacity and drive.
Therefore, any of those that had registered on BikeReg will be receiving their money refunded. However, since BikeReg’s processing fee is not refundable, we will be deducting the processing fee off of your next year’s ride. We have the list of those that registered on file and will reach out to you when registration opens next year. Those of you that sent in paper registrations will be receiving your registration and checks back in the mail for you to destroy.
As the committee sat with their heads in their hands last night, the idea of hosting a mini ride for the weekend of August 7-9 was brought up. Our group has already accrued costs for the ride that was cancelled, and we feel that the riders deserve something for this summer. Stay tuned to our website for any information on that ride as we plan.
Again, we as a wrestling community are as stubborn as they come. We held out hope that we could still provide this ride in the most difficult of times and we were very optimistic that we could. However, we cannot control when and how the communities make their decisions based on their safety and precautionary guidelines.
We look forward to having extra time in completing our new shower shack as well as planning for an even better CaNDak 2021 ride. We thank you all that have reached out to us to offer words of support and concern during these very uncertain times. We really feel like our CaNDak community has grown into a family and we will miss not seeing you all this August but look forward to reuniting in 2021. I am sure we will all have great stories to tell. God Bless!
Here is the information for the host communities and rest stops along our route. Some of these routes may be subject to change due to road construction. We will have updated ones in every host community.
